And the Cup goes to …

I’m sure you’re all fully aware; the Penguins won Game 7 2-1 to claim the Stanley Cup. It was a hard fought win, with Detroit giving it their all from the start of the game, but the Pens’ offense and goalie were right on the money on Saturday night. It was a fitting end to the battle for the Cup and both teams should consider themselves winners as they both played exceptionally well.

I’m finding Sid Crosby’s decision to touch the Prince of Wales trophy in order to give the team a little bit of extra luck even more fascinating. I do believe that Lemuix touched it last time the Pens won, so maybe there is something to this.

Evengi Malkin became the first Russian player to take the Conn Smythe Trophy after being named the MVP of the playoffs. He’s also a contender for the Hart Trophy, which will be awarded this Saturday night in Vegas.

Anyway, congrats to the Pens. It was a victory well earned.
