Sunday Games

There are two more games scheduled for the week.  Here’s a quick look at what to expect.

Red Wings @ Rangers
This should be a pretty intense matchup between two Original Six teams.  The last meeting between the Wings and the Rangers was just over a year ago and resulted in a 5-4 overtime win for the Wings.  Though, this time around, each team is dealing with their own problems, which could result in a different outcome.  The Wings have been plagued by injuries in recent games, struggling to replace key players, while the Rangers have been lacking offensive power.

The Wings are coming into this one after a disappointing loss against New Jersey.  Though they played the Devils hard they just couldn’t pull out a win and ultimately lost it in overtime.  The fact that they are missing key players, such as Brian Rafalski, is proving to be a hard obstacle to overcome.  That being said, they might fair better against the Rangers who have lacked serious offensive power in recent games.  They pulled out a win against the Sabres in their last game to put an end to a three game losing streak.  If big scorers like Christopher Higgins can manage to put the puck in the net, the Rangers should do all right on the home ice.  Expect a close game between these two teams, with the Rangers just edging out the Wings.

BetUS is offering the following odds:
Puck Line
Red Wings: +1 ½ -260
Rangers: -1 ½ +220
Moneyline
Red Wings: +115
Rangers: -135

Senators @ Ducks
These two teams have developed a bit of a rivalry over the last few years after the Ducks edged out the Senators in five games to win the 2007 Stanley Cup.  Since, the Ducks have largely dominated Ottawa.  Though, this time might be a little different as they are facing a game without forward Teemu Selanne who could be out up to 6 weeks due to a fractured bone in his left hand.  Plus, they’ve lost four in a row, giving up leads in the third period of two of those games.

Ottawa has also suffered a few crushing losses in recent weeks and have fallen behind in the Northeast Division.  They’ve lost a disappointing seven in a row as they have not been able to get it together on the road.  This should be a pretty interesting game, though with the way the Ducks have historically dominated the Senators, they should be able to pull out a win in this one to get back on track.

BetUS is offering the following odds:
Puck Line
Senators: +1 ½ -230
Ducks: -1 ½ +190
Moneyline
Senators: +125
Ducks: -145
